Up & Coming Talent: McKenna Faith

Tired of that
lackluster nine to five job? Don’t
worry...here is some inspiration to
kickstart your dreams.

We’ve all seen them. These incredibly talented celebrities out there that are living the dream. They get to do what they love...as a career. Who does that?!
The answer to that question is...everyone should do what they love. But the faith to follow down that path can sometimes be overwhelming. Will you be able to make a solid career and live off of your dream?
It has been said that everything that you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear. You need to live fearlessly. Easier said than done, am I right?
But the truth in the matter is that you don’t get anywhere in life without a little courage. The thought of failure, especially at something  you are passionate about, can cause anyone to have a nervous breakdown. I myself was a little worried about starting my writing career. But you power through any turmoil and nay-sayers, because this is what you want to do. And you CAN do it.
Whether you are a highly sought-after actress like Sarah Michelle Gellar and want to start a baking business known as Foodstirs, or you are a small town girl with dreams of becoming one of the state’s best wedding planners and create a business called Simply Gypsy Events, you should follow your dreams. Maybe you want to start a calligraphy business called Ivory Ink Co., or you are Reese Witherspoon and you want to start your own clothing line named after your grandparents, Draper James. There are numerous examples of people that actually go for what they want, so why shouldn’t you?
We chatted with some up and coming stars about their journey with doing what they love to do. These artists are forging their own destiny one show at a time. Audience after audience and song after song, they make their way into hearts of new fans everywhere.
When you think about all of the people they have met and the places they have seen, who wouldn’t want to follow their path. We spend the majority of our adult, and sometimes adolescent years, at work. So why not enjoy what you are doing. We get this one chance on Earth to make the best of our time here. So, go start following your dreams.

McKenna Faith

With her lively performances, this California native is setting the world by storm. McKenna Faith, originally a competitor of barrel racing, found her way to half-time performances and traded in her life with horses to that a recording artist in Nashville, Tennessee.
Being the number one selling independent female country artist on iTunes, it is easy to see why festivals from all over the world are booking this incredible talent, who has been touring since the age of fifteen.
We chatted with her to see what she loves most about the stage and what she enjoys doing in her free time.

Improper Adult: When did you decide that you wanted a career in music?
McKenna Faith: I would say when I thirteen. I always sang, in church and with the family. But when I was thirteen, I started taking voice and guitar lessons and writing my own songs.

IA: Were you ever involved with music in school?
MF: Yes, I was in band class when I was in third grade.

IA: Who do you look up to for your musical journey?
MF: There is no one in particular, I would say. I started singing because of my dad. He sang at our church and we would always sing karaoke. But, besides my dad, Shania Twain was a huge influence. I love her music; it is timeless.

IA: What do you love most about the tour life that comes along with being a singer?
MF: My favorite part of tour life is meeting new fans and traveling to new places, while getting to explore.

IA: Do you think that social media boosts your fan base, in this day and age?
MF: Social media most definitely boosts my fan base. It is a huge part of getting my music out there. It lets fans know where I’m playing and what is going on in my life.

IA: Who is your favorite artist?
MF: I would have to say Shania Twain.

IA: What do you enjoy doing in your free time, that is not music related?
MF: I enjoy being surrounded by friends and family. I love hiking and being outdoors.

IA: Do you write any of your own songs?
MF: I do. I write/cowrite all of my music.

IA: What is your favorite aspect of the whole music career: Touring, Performing, Music Videos, Meet & Greets, Song Writing/Recording?
MF: That’s tough, I would have to say making new music, the writing process, and seeing a song come to life.

IA: What is one thing that you wish your fans knew about you?
MF: That I am not perfect, and that I am just like them, making my dreams come true.

IA: Do you have any advice for young singers?
MF: Yes, take your time. Get out there and interact with your fans. Don’t give up because it doesn’t happen overnight. It is a lot of time and work.
