Alcohol Guide

It is hard to decide on what to buy when you take a trip to the liquor store. Walking down the aisles, there are so many different bottles. The colors, names, labels all factor into the ever expanding market. Competition is fierce. So how do you know what to buy? There are trends with every season, and once something becomes popular, other breweries, wineries, and distilleries follow suit, making it all the harder to choose. Whether you are grabbing something for a bonfire with friends or a present for your mother-in-law, we are here to give you tips about what to try or maybe not try.
In every issue, we grab a tasting panel of regular people, to try different alcoholic
beverages. We sample one wine, one beer, one hard alcohol, and one
malt beverage/pre-mixed drink. We all try the same thing, and rate it, proceeding to let you in on our secret findings.

Seagram’s Escapes
Calypso Colada
*This bright blue beverage is the epitome of
Hawaiian cocktails. It was light and refreshing and perfect for summer. The ABV is a mere 3.2,
allowing you to drink this malt beverage all day long without the worry of passing out. The flavors of pineapple and coconut were powerful and sweet, leaving no mystery in what we were drinking.
Overall we gave it a B.

*We couldn’t find a musical malt beverage. So we turned to Calypso for John Denver’s song.

Maestro Dobel Tequila
Diamante
A blend of extra-añejo, añejo, and reposado tequilas, this incredibly smooth tequila is one of the finest we have tried. It is aged in European oak barrels and double filtered to produce a clear liquid. With a 40 ABV, this tequila makes one of the best margaritas  we have ever tasted. Plus it comes in super cool
instrument cases.
Overall it got a solid A.
Harbor Ridge Winery
Carmen’s Last Dance
This semi sweet red table wine reminded the tasting panel of kosher wine served at a church service. The underlying concord grapes and rich fruit flavor left a pleasant note on the tongue. Out of Door County, Wisconsin, this wine has become a staple
throughout the state. The Carmen Miranda colorful label draws attention; their marketing on point.
Overall we gave it a C+.

Robinson’s Brewery
Iron Maiden-Trooper Beer
This malted barley and wheat golden ale has hints of lemon. The standardly average 4.7 ABV can be felt after a refreshing pint. Brewed by Robinson Brewery, this British beer was crafted by non-other than British heavy-metal rock band, Iron Maiden. A fan of English ales, they were thrilled to be asked to be a part of this beer.
Overall we gave it a B-.
