Band Bio: Picard

We met in front of the iconic House of Rock in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The music scene for every band in the Midwest was the perfect location. We sat in lawn chairs on the sidewalk and talked about past bands, how they got their name, and the new age where people record concerts on their phones instead of enjoying the music. The band, which started five years ago, was originally a solo project that converted into what they are now as a six-piece. Realizing the need for more talent with others wanting to be involved that were helping write the songs, it took a natural course to that of the band Picard. When asked how they categorize their music, they simply state that they are rock. They don’t delve farther into the genre because their music isn’t all the same. Each song has a different feel and style to it. The musical direction has drastically changed as well. The band comes from a background in metal and hard rock, so that is apparent in some of their music. But as with any genre, you can get a little burnt out playing the same stuff. Picard is kind of an experiment to say what happens if we don’t categorize ourselves and just play music. The band, who loved playing at House of Rock, is a goofy, energetic group of guys who love to have fun and be musically creative. The interview was full of laughs and giving away free CDs to college kids, some of which had no clue what a CD was (but that is a subject for another day.)
